5 Tips to Keep Cockroaches Out of Your Apartment

Do you live in an apartment? You might have an unwanted roommate. Learn how to keep cockroaches out of your apartment with our 5 top tips.

Cockroaches are arguably the most dreaded pests to set up shop inside your house, and they can easily infest your home if proper precautions aren’t taken. But they’re not just irritating and dirty, they’re also a health hazard. They’re capable of transmitting 33 different types of bacteria, six parasitic worms and over seven other human viruses.

The team here at Monitor Pest Control in Atlanta wants to stress the severity of getting rid of cockroaches and out of your living space. Please understand that they can make you very ill, and it’s in your best interest to know how to prevent them from infesting your Atlanta apartment.

1) Regularly clean kitchen counters.

Roaches love to hang anywhere there are food crumbs, which just so happens to be on kitchen counters and around the kitchen floor. Make sure you’re disinfecting your kitchen in general on a regular basis.

2) Don’t hesitate to treat.

Whether you or your property manager are responsible for treating your apartment, please be sure to have pest control come out on a regular basis. If you see any droppings on the floor, quickly sweep them up and immediately take out the trash and empty the vacuum. By doing this, you’re ensuring that no larvae and eggs can hatch in your apartment to continue the cycle.

3) Keep garbage sealed and disposed of regularly.

Trash buildup is just asking for a roach infestation. Take your trash to the curb once a week and ensure it’s sealed at all times.

4) Pay attention to your bathrooms.

Again, cockroaches take a liking to moisture, so they often hang around your bathroom. Check under the sink and around the toilets at regular intervals.

5) Seal cracks and holes around the apartment foundation.

Don’t give cockroaches an easy point of entry. If you live in an older apartment building, chances are that there are some cracks that have formed inside your living space. Take a walk around the apartment and make sure this isn’t the case.

Always keep your apartment space treated for cockroaches. Monitor Pest Control is here to help all Atlanta residents with roaches and general pests. Give us a call at (404) 848-1508 to receive your free cockroach assessment!
