Holiday Tips for Pest Prevention

Remember when you bring home that beautiful Christmas tree that has been growing in the woods it could be home to spiders, aphids, beetles, and other pests.  These pests lay their eggs in the live branches during the cooler months.  Once the tree comes inside and warms up the pest think it is spring and time to hatch inside your nice warm home.

As a precaution remember to shake your tree and greenery before you bring it into your home.   If you have an invasion of unwanted guests give Monitor a call to take care of the problem.  Our special once-a-year pest control can protect you into the New Year.

According to a Penn State study, you should never use aerosol pest-control sprays on Christmas trees because they are flammable.

Are you a Christmas cook?

Pests love Holiday cooking also. Remember to store baked goods in airtight containers to keep the pests out. Once a year pest control is your key to a pest-free Holiday. You can use a bay leaf in canisters the pungent smell repels some pantry pests such as weevils in flour.
Remember to store firewood at least 20 feet from the house as this is a great home for pests and creates a home for pests.
