Mice and rats are some of the most agile creatures. Once they’re in your home, it’s an incredible pain to get them out. They’re in a constant search for food and shelter, and unfortunately your house is their favorite place to camp out.
It’s important to be prepared for rodents before they enter, because roofs and ceilings are some of their favorite places to hide, which is a difficult place for pest control to access. Once they’ve found their spot up high, you’re in for a massive headache.
Monitor Pest Control has seen horrible rodent infestations over the years and just how much stress it causes Atlanta homeowners. It’s certainly not something that we want you to have to endure.
The first step in managing a rodent infestation is making sure that you have one in the first place. Here are five ways that you can tell.
- Smell. Rodents urinate and defecate quite frequently, leaving behind a putrid smell that should be pretty easy to identify.
- Sounds. If there are several rodents in your home, it should be pretty easy to hear them. Sounds of squeaking and little footsteps will be quite noticeable.
- Gnaw marks. Rodents have teeth that grow constantly, and because of this they love to chew on wood around your home. Check for bite marks on baseboards, furniture, wood floors, and so on.
- Nests. Rodents create nests in lofts and well-hidden spaces around your home. Check carefully for this and contact pest control immediately if you spot any.
- Sightings. If you see one alive or dead, there’s a high chance that there are many more that came with it.
