Moles
What are moles?
Moles are small mammals found throughout Georgia that burrow tunnels under the ground. They are 6-8 inches in length and are gray in color; they have powerful paddle-like forefeet with large toenails that they use for digging. They have strong necks and elongated heads. Moles spend most of their life underground and therefore have very small eyes and no external ears.
Are moles dangerous?
Moles are not a direct danger to humans; they do not carry diseases that can be transferred to humans. However, moles can cause extensive and costly damage to your lawn and landscaping. Their tunnels will weaken the surface of your lawn and cause root damage to grass along with other plants. When digging their tunnels they leave mounds of dirt behind which can leave your lawn looking unsightly.
Why do I have a mole problem?
Mole problems are likely to occur if your property has the right environment for their burrows and food needs. Moles prefer to dig their tunnels in moist sandy soil, pastures, gardens and wooded areas. During months that are warm and wet, mole activity will be at its highest. Moles eat nuts, insects and earthworms that are found on your property.

Can I do it myself?
Moles dig very elaborate tunnels and it can be hard to locate all of the moles and their nests that are on your property. The longer that moles are left to burrow in your lawn the more extensive and deep their tunnels will be making it extremely difficult to eliminate them. It is best to leave mole control up to the professionals who can eliminate them as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you have a mole problem contact Monitor Pest Control today.

How can I prevent a mole problem in the future?
It is almost impossible to prevent moles from using your property for tunneling. You can try to make your property less habitable for them by over-watering your lawn or under-watering it. However, the best way to prevent extensive damage and get rid of moles is to get professional help and remove them from your property as soon as possible.
