What is a German cockroach?
There are thousands of species of cockroaches that live around the world and along with the American cockroach, one of the most common species of cockroach found in the United States and possibly in your Georgia home! is the German cockroach (also known as waterbugs). They have wings but are flightless; German cockroaches are ½ to 5/8 inches long and are tan to light brown in color with dark parallel lines running from the back of their head to the wings.
Are German cockroaches dangerous?
German cockroaches can cause health problems for humans. Their feces and saliva can cause asthma attacks to be triggered in some people. Cockroaches can carry salmonella and E. Coli, with which they can contaminate your food, food prep area, and utensils. The pathogens that they carry will cause severe vomiting and diarrhea in humans.

Cockroaches can either enter your home on their own while foraging for food or be carried into your house in boxes, bags, and luggage.
